Google sólo quiere vender adwords
Hoy leo en Dirson la profecÃa apocalÃptica de la empresa que quiere adueñarse de todo… son muchas las voces que sostienen esta opinión, pero creo que realmente Google sólo quiere una cosa: vender Adwords.
Hace tres/cuatro años, en pleno bajón de las puntocom, por primera vez el número de páginas web no ya es que hubiera dejado de crecer, es que decaÃa. Tras unos años de experimentar, probar etc, las empresas ya habÃan creado sus webs, los aficionados y amateurs también, y… cada vez habÃa menos gente que quisiera crear una página web como homenaje a sus aficiones (desde la Sirenita, hasta el antiguo egipto, pasando por la informática). Hacer una web aún no era fácil fácil, y los que ya sabÃan, ya habÃan experimentado con las nuevas posibilidades hasta el hastÃo, llevando al flash, dhtml, javascript y php’s hasta los lÃmites. Las novedades ya no eran tantas, los portales especilizados en diseño web ya no era el boom (un ejemplo claro es aticco.com con una primera interfaz en flash absolutamente espectacular de la que hoy no queda nada).
Los particulares se cansaban, no habÃa forma de ganar dinero para las expectativas que se tenÃan, y la cosa estaba de capa caÃda…
Pues bien, para una empresa que trata de vender adwords no ya en sus resultados de búsqueda, sino en su red de afiliados, como es Google, eso era malo. Menos webs, menos afiliados, se venden menos adwords. Los movimientos de google leÃa ayer (lo siento, no recuerdo dónde) no van dirigidos a comprar contenidos (salvo en el caso de Blogger) sino que desarrolla herramientas para que la gente los cree, como Google Base. Creo que Google quiere que crezca el número de webs, y que crezcan especialmente en lugares donde con permiso (adsense en afiliados) o sin él (en sus productos) pueda meter las adwords.
¿Puede meter adwords en un sistema operativo? no. Y no creo que mejore la experiencia de usuario. Asumámoslo: nadie va a echar a Microsoft del escritorio, sólo desaparecerá cuando éste escritorio desaparezca. Y eso no parece que esté a punto de pasar, y lo de las suite basadas en navegador molan, pero cuando los ordenadores se venden todos con un Sistema operativo… ese va a seguir siendo Windows o Apple (por cierto, participada de forma significativa en su accionariao por Microsoft).
Asà que, Googl va a lo suyo: a poner las cosas fáciles e interesantes para que la gente cree contenidos. Sin google, blogger y adwords seguirÃamos ver el declive del número de páginas web. Ellos han invertido la ecuación, y de esta forma han conseguido que la red sea más rica e interesante. Y si apoyan a la wikipedia, aún más.
¿Qué va a hacer Google? Lo mismo que hasta ahora: vender adwords. Como locos. De eso se trata.
